Known as the Fragrant Harbor and Pearl of the Orient, Hong Kong is a modern metropolis situated on the southern coast of China by the Pearl River Delta. Started with a collection of fishing villages when claimed as a crown colony by Britain in 1842, Hong Kong returned to China in 1997 with current population of about seven millions people. With a unique mixture of eastern and western cultures, Hong Kong is the Asia's world city.

WCCI 2008 will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (location map), one of the landmarks in Hong Kong. it is situated in Wan  Chai district by the Victoria Harbor and accessible by subway (called the Mass Transit Railway), ferry, bus, trolley, and taxi.

Hong Kong has a subtropical climate with distinct seasons. In early June, the average temperature is 27.2 degrees centigrade, relative humidity is around 83 percent. Official weather forecasts and reports can be obtained from the Hong Kong Observatory.
