It is necessary to apply for a visa to attend the ROBIO 2009 for participants from many countries. Participants from a few countries can enter into China without a visa. It is suggested that the participants check with the Chinese Embassy or Consulates in their countries on whether they need a visa. For those who need a visa, they can apply for one of the following two types of visas to attend the ROBIO 2009:
Business Visa (F Visa):
1) To apply for a business visa, you may need an official invitation letter from us. Please email the following items to firstname.lastname@example.org:
(a) your full name in passport
(b) Personal information: nationality, gender, date of birth
(c) Passport number
(d) Contact information: mailing address, telephone number, and fax number.
We will send you an official invitation letter as soon as possible.
2) For participants from a few countries, they may need a visa notification form (a very official visa document). If you need the visa notification form, please email the following items to email@example.com:
(a) a scanned copy (in PDF or JPEG) of the page of your passport that shows your passport number, nationality, full name, gender, date of birth, and other personal information
(b) contact information: mailing address, telephone and fax number, and email address. Since it takes 2-3 weeks to obtain the visa notification form from the authority, please act as soon as possible.
3) Please note that there are NOT many countries from which the participants need the visa notification form. Please directly check the information with Chinese Embassy and Consulates.
Tourist Visa (L Visa):
- Participants can also attend ROBIO 2009 by a tourist visa. To apply for the tourist visa, please check the application details with Chinese Embassy or Consulates in your country.

Guilin is located at 109°„E longitude and 24°„ N latitude in northeastern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The Guilin Municipal region covers an area of 4,195 square kilometers. It lies in a basin surrounded by the Yuecheng Range, Ocean Hill, Jiaqiao Range and Tianping Hill. The altitude is 140 to160 meters.
Guilin sits in a subtropical monsoon zone with a warm and moist climate, which is moderate all year round. However be prepared for a bit of rain, with annual precipitation amounts of 1900mm.
The average temperature all year round is 19°„C(66F).The coldest temperatures occur in January at 8°„C(46F) and the hottest occur in July at 28°„C(82F).
The best time to travel here is between April and October.
